Worm C. elegans ORFs C. elegans ORFs
Dr. Marc Vidal's laboratory at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has
generated the C. elegans Open Reading Frame (ceORF) clones
representing over 10,000 worm genes1 . The ceORF collection
is the leading resource for functionally characterizing the worm
proteome through applications such as protein-protein interactions, RNAi
and protein expression.
The ceORFs were generated by amplification from full length cDNA
libraries and cloning into the Gateway2 recombinational
cloning system (pDONR201). ceORF clones can be subcloned into any
expression vector, using traditional restriction enzyme and ligase
cloning methods. Alternatively, the recombinational cloning system
allows the target gene to be rapidly transferred in-frame into a variety
of expression vectors. Release 1.1 clones represent a pool of cloned
products, thus multiple splice variants are preserved in each pool. The
ceORF clones in Release 1.1 have been end sequence tagged3
(OST) to confirm the identity of the gene and the presence of at least
one splicing event. Subsequent releases will be occurring as further
refinements of the ceORF clones occur. This on-going process includes
in-depth characterization by interaction mapping, RNAi screening and
full insert sequencing. Watch our website for further details and links
to these interesting projects.
ceORFs will be available in two different formats: glycerol stocks and spotted onto IsoCode® cards. The ceORFs spotted onto IsoCode® cards give you the freedom to store the clones at ambient temperature and use them directly in PCR, transformation and sequencing. Please email or call (888-412-2225) our Customer Service representatives if you would like the IsoCode® card format. Benefits:
Individual clones:
Clones are provided as a live culture in a 2ml tube. Each tube contains LB medium supplemented with 8% glycerol and the appropriate antibiotic. Within 2-3 business days of receiving your order we will ship your clone at room temperature via express delivery. Store the stock clone at -80°C.
Bulk Orders:
Orders of 50 clones or greater and stock plates will be provided in microtiter plates. These will ship on dry-ice via overnight delivery and should be stored at -80°C immediately upon receipt. Please contact our customer service department for a quote and estimated shipping time on bulk orders.
Entire Collection:
Orders for the entire C. elegans collection are provided in microtiter plates. These will ship on dry-ice via overnight delivery and should be stored at -80°C immediately upon receipt. Please contact our customer service department for estimated shipping time on orders for the entire collection.
