Full-length cDNAs provide the strongest evidence for the exon structure of protein-encoding mRNA transcripts and are indispensable tools for determining gene function. Open Biosystems is privileged to be a distributor for the MGC, the largest single collection of confirmed full-length and annotated cDNAs. The MGC is generated by a consortium of leading, NIH-funded laboratories and is available to all without restriction. This valuable public resource is growing steadily, with the total number of clones in the human collection having exceeded 20,000 by August, 2005. Clone Verification
All DNA sequences and annotations have been submitted to GenBank by the supplier (for example, the IMAGE consortium), but have not been independently verified by Open Biosystems. We therefore strongly recommend the following routine precautions:

Prior to purchase, the customer should analyze the database sequence for the clone of interest using BLAST or other bioinformatics tools.
After purchase, the customer should end-sequence the clone and BLAST the result against the GenBank sequence.

Individual clones:
Clones are provided as a live culture in a 2-ml tube. Each tube contains LB medium supplemented with 8% glycerol and the appropriate antibiotic. Within 2–3 business days of receiving your order we will ship your clone at room temperature via express delivery. Store the stock clone at –80°C.

Clone Collections:
Orders of 50 clones or greater and stock plates will be provided in 96-well microtiter plates. These will ship on dry-ice via overnight delivery and should be stored at –80°C immediately upon receipt. Please contact our customer service department for a quote and estimated shipping time on bulk orders.
