The ULTRAN® - Pilot HT stainless steel filter holder
is designed for GMP-Production in the pharmaceutical and
biotechnology market. With this system volumes between 5 and
1000 L may be processed. For this, ultra and microfilter
cassettes equipped with special high flux filtration membranes
working in crossflow modes are used. The retentate path length
of the ULTRAN -Pilot cassette exactly corresponds in geometry
with the ULTRAN -Slice cassette, thus enabling linear
downscaling to laboratory scale.
The stainless steel filter holder is free of weld seams and
the transition to commercially available Tri-Clamp connections
is provided by a newly developed type of connection joint that
guarantees ferrite-free and corrosion-free contact surfaces.
This is of special importance when working with buffer solutions
containing salt concentrations.
All parts of the ULTRAN -pilot HT filter holder which come in
contact with the product are signed with a material-number and
the specific serial-number of the filter holder. 3.1.B
certificates and documents of the surface roughness are included
in delivery.

Two cassette configurations are offered which differ in their
retentate channel design. With Screen cassettes the channel is
filled with a polymeric screen which creates turbulent flow at
the membrane's surface, thus preventing gel layer formation and
providing a constant filtration rate. This configuration is
suitable for molecular soluted biomolecules
The open configuration of the so-called open channel
cassettes is provided by spacers allowing for filtration even
with particle loaded product flows. This configuration is
particularly suitable for applications such as cell harvesting,
particulate removal and filtration of highly viscous solutions.
