Sulforhodamine 101-a-bungarotoxin
(also called Texas Red-a-bungarotoxin) |
|
Description:
Sulforhodamine 101- a-bungarotoxin
binds to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor with high
affinity. Since the dye sulforhodamine 101 has a longer
absorption and emission wavelengths ( lex\ lem=
593/613 nm) than tetramethylrhodamine- a-bungarotoxin
(# 00012
), it gives a better spectral separation when a green
fluorescent probe such as SynaptoGreen C4 (FM1-43, # 70020
) is also used in the experiment. Also see other labeled
a- Bungarotoxins. Soluble in
water

SynaptoGreenTM
C4 (also known as FM1-43, a trademark of Molecular Probes, Inc.) |
|
Description:
A widely used green fluorescent dye for following synaptic
activities by staining synaptic vesicles at the synapse or
neuromuscular junctions.1 When used in combination with the
red fluorescent dye SynaptoRed 70021 ),
synapses or neuromuscular junctions can be imaged
independently in two colors. Recent research results from
Tsien's 2 and Kay's 3 labs showed that
brain slices can be stained with the styryl dye SynaptoGreen
when SR101 (Sulforhodamine 101, 80101 )
or ADVASEP-7( 70029 ) is used to reduce
the background staining. Biotium offers several Nerve
Terminal Staining Kits for staining brain slices.

AM1-43 |
|
Description:
In collaboration with Dr. Guosong Liu's lab at MIT, Biotium
has developed AM1-43 as a fixable, activity-dependent
fluorescent nerve terminal probe. AM1-43 functions similarly
as our SynaptoGreen ( 70020 )
(equivalent to FM1-43, a trademark of Molecular Probes,
Inc.) does, but with the additional property of being
fixable. Thus, AM1-43 is a useful tool for synapse studies
where subsequent fluorescent immunochemistry is desired.
AM1-43 and FM1-43 have identical excitation and emission
wavelengths.

AM4-65 |
|
Description:
|
AM4-65 is a fixable red fluorescent nerve terminal probe.
The dye is spectrally identical to SynaptoRed C2 (also
called FM4-64), but it has an additional amine group at the
hydrophlic end of the molecule, making the dye fixable with
formaldehyde or glutaldehyde. The long emission wavelength
makes the dye suitable to be used with GFP in two-color
imaging.
